REMEMBERING JUNE 16 1976: THE DAY OF THE AFRICAN CHILD

Events that took place on this day (June 16,1976) thirty seven years ago lead to the uprising that began in  Soweto, South Africa. All that took place can be traced back to the policies of the apartheid government when the introduction of Bantu Education Act in 1953 was put into act. Movements such as the Black Consciousness Movement (BCM) and the South African Student Organization (SASO) and other anti-apartheid organizations with the students in the country were formed to fight for their rights.

The introduction of Afrikaans and English as the core language for teaching in schools did not sit well with black students. Their frustration made them to start mobilizing, a beginning to their long painful struggle to liberation. There are so many events of how this started told by many people. It didnt end well.

This might have taken place in South Africa but it has affected us one way or the other. Fight for your rights and what you believe in. This day has since been declare as youth day in South Africa.

Oh! Its father's day too. Happy father's day to all fathers out there. Those man enough to man up to their responsibility hahaha. Happy fathers day papa Mr Augustine Folodzi Oabile.

AN EVENING WITH THE SOIL

Its been months since we have been planning for The Soil Show: One Night Only at Boipuso Hall. This show was held last week Friday (7/6/13). Finally the day was here and I could'nt wait to experience the soothing magical talent of The Soil. I could'nt sleep on Thursday night, I wanted it to be Friday so we go pick them up at the airport. Their flight was to arrive very early in the morning but it delayed. So we waited there at the airport until they came and off we went into town to start our day. Airport junction was our first stop then the event venue for sound check. The sound check was so dope. These guys can sing iyooh! There after was Btv (Flava Dome) then meet and greet in Airport junction. We also had lunch at Europa. Eish we needed food after a long day we had hahaha. Eish that chicken burger *Drools*. Eleven pm The Soil graced the stage right after Samantha Mogwe whose performance was out of this world. When The Soil performed the crowd went gaga. They sang along to every song. People came out in modern vintage channeling The Soil. It was really beautiful. Thank you to all those whose came through. They coming back soon....WATCH THE SPACE. Post done using borrowed pictures.
